Eyup Sultan Mosque

Zahvaljujući svojoj bogatoj povijesti, Istanbul ima i više nego dovoljno mjesta koja možete posjetiti. Muzeji, džamije, tvrđave; što god poželite, grad to ima. Jedno od najpopularnijih mjesta koje privlači turiste su povijesne džamije, a naš današnji izbor bit će džamija Eyup Sultan. Budući da je to najstarija i najvažnija džamija u Istanbulu, nezaobilazna je ako planirate kulturni obilazak Istanbula.

Džamija Eyup Sultan izgrađena je na grobu Abu Eyupa el-Ensarija, koji je bio blizak prijatelj Poslanika. Tijekom prve arapske opsade Konstantinopola od 674. do 678. godine, razbolio se i umro izvan zidina noseći zastavu Poslanikove vojske. Zamolio je svoje prijatelje da ga pokopaju duboko unutar Konstantinopola nakon završetka opsade. Iako nisu uspjeli probiti se duboko unutar zidina, pokopali su ga uz Zlatni rog i ispunili njegovu želju. Nakon što je Mehmet Osvajač osvojio Istanbul 1453. godine, zamolio je svog duhovnog savjetnika, šejha islama, Akshemsuddina, da pronađe lokaciju grobnog mjesta Eyupa el-Ensarija. Nakon tjedan dana potrage za grobom, jednog dana Akshemsuddin se onesvijestio i usnio san. Kad se probudio, tvrdio je da se grob nalazi na mjestu gdje će položiti tepih za molitvu. Nakon malo kopanja na mjestu koje je naveo, pronašli su grob. Na grobu su bile ispisane riječi "Grob Ebu Eyyuba" sufijskim slovima.
