Kapalıçarşı Hakkında

4000'den fazla dükkânıyla Kapalıçarşı İstanbul'daki en eski kapalı çarşıdır (veya bazar) ve dünyanın en büyüklerinden biridir.

Şehrin ekonomisini canlandırmak amacıyla Sultan Mehmet'in emriyle 1455 ile 1560 yılları arasında inşa edilen Kapalıçarşı, o zamandan beri kesintisiz olarak faaliyet göstermektedir. Osmanlı İmparatorluğu döneminde son derece zengindi ve burada bulunabilecek ürünlerin kalitesi ve çeşitliliği açısından Avrupa'nın tamamında rakibi yoktu.
