ארמון דולמבחצ'ה המפואר היה מקום המגורים האחרון, וככל הנראה גם היקר ביותר, של סולטני האימפריה העות'מאנית. יש בו 285 חדרים, 44 אולמות, 68 תאי שירותים ושישה חמאמים (מרחצאות טורקיים) והוא שוכן לאורך מימיו היפים של הבוספורוס. מוצגים בו רהיטים יפהפיים רבים, יצירות אמנות ואוצרות יקרי ערך נוספים, אך אחד המרהיבים ביותר הוא נברשת הקריסטל במשקל 4.5 טון התלויה באולם הטקסים הגדול. זו הנברשת הגדולה בעולם!

כאשר האימפריה העות'מאנית הגיעה לקיצה והוקמה הרפובליקה הטורקית, הארמון שימש כמעון ממלכתי עבור אורחים רמי מעלה שביקרו במדינה. מאוחר יותר הוא הפך למעונו הנשיאותי של אטאטורק באיסטנבול. כיום ארמון דולמבחצ'ה שוחזר לחלוטין והוא מוזיאון פופולרי מאוד.

חלק ההרמון של ארמון דולמבחצ'ה היה מקום המגורים הפרטי של משפחת הסולטאן העות'מאני, כולל אמו, נשותיו, ילדיו ומועדפיו האחרים. אגף מפואר זה של הארמון, המעוטר בעושר רב, היה סגור לחלוטין בפני זרים כדי להבטיח פרטיות לדיירי המלוכה. הרמון כולל חדרים מפוארים המעוטרים בזהב, קריסטל וריהוט מורכב.

Why is the Palace called Dolmabahce? +

Since the land obtained from the bay, which was filled in to create a more suitable area for ceremonies, was later called Dolma garden and gradually turned into a private garden. Dolma means stuffed in Turkish. Bahce means garden.

The palace can be visited throughout the week between 9 AM and 5 PM, except for the first days of the religious holidays and New Year’s Day.
